What Causes Halitosis?
There are a number of things that can cause halitosis.
Commonly, halitosis is caused by poor oral hygiene.
How?
Because, if you don't brush and floss teeth properly and daily, food particles can remain in between your teeth.
This promotes bacterial growth between teeth, around the gums, and on the tongue. Bacteria break down pieces of food in between the teeth, and may release an unpleasant-smelling gas.
Certain foods can also cause bad breath. Eating foods with strong flavour such as onions and garlic, can also cause your breath to smell, as can smoking and drinking alcohol.
Sometimes, bad breath can occur after an infection or illness, or as a result of taking certain types of medication.
