LIPID PROFILE TESTs: a very important test

In Africa, especially in Nigeria most people always feel at peace when they check their blood pressure and found it to be normal. But only few try to check the chances or possibilities of  them developing cardiovascular diseases. It's very important to know you chances   or how close or far you are from developing a cardiovascular disease(s). Lipid profile tests (LPTs) is one test that can help you know your chances of developing cardiovascular diseases.
Lipid profile tests are a series of blood tests done to ascertain the concentration or amount of various lipids in the blood. With these tests the blood lipid profile could known from with any abnormality in blood lipids could be identified. With lipid profile tests the chances of one developing any cardiovascular disease can be deduced. Because there are lipids which when high or low in the blood could result to cardiovascular disease,  these lipids include:
1. Cholesterol
2. Triglycerides (TG)
3. High-density lipoprotein (HDL)
4. Low-density lipoprotein
These lipids must be in their normal concentrations in the blood for you to be safe from cardiovascular diseases.
With exception of HDL, high concentration of any or all  others can all lead to cardiovascular diseases. Though extremely high blood level of HDL is not good but HDL is sometimes called good cholesterol because it removes cholesterol from the other parts of the body to the liver for further metabolism, hence it in turn or somehow prevents any cardiovascular disease that could result from excess cholesterol.
I advise people of all ages especially the adult to always go for lipid profile tests in order to know their chances of developing cardiovascular diseases so that the necessary precautions could be taken.
Don't forget this "everything edible is to be consumed, not should be consumed in excess, moderate is the key to good health"
